Malware found in some Angry Bird Space Game

Angry Birds SpaceAndroid malware authors have seized an opportunity to infect unsuspecting smartphone users with the launch of the latest addition to the immensely popular "Angry Birds" series of games.
SophosLabs recently encountered malware-infected editions of the "Angry Birds Space" game which have been placed in unofficial Android app stores. Please note: The version of "Angry Birds Space" in the official Android market (recently renamed "Google Play") is *not* affected.
The Trojan horse, which Sophos detects as Andr/KongFu-L, appears to be a fully-functional version of the popular smartphone game, but uses the GingerBreak exploit to gain root access to the device, and install malicious code.

It has been 8 long years since the release of Max Payne 2, and even longer since the first Max Paynevideo game came on the scene. Most of us probably have a vague memory at best of running through the streets of New York and slow bullet-time sequences. Or maybe you’re more like me, and never got your parent’s permission to play the first game.
Well, wouldn’t it be nice for a refresher seeing as the long awaited third installment is nearly upon us? No need to scour eBay for used copies; Rockstar is releasing the original on mobile platforms this month.

Speak Asia Latest Update

Latest Update 03-04-2012

Dear SpeakAsians

Since the last update, there are several issues we would like to address and clarify with our valued panelists. It is important that you understand our position and the actions we are taking.

  1. Media Reports
The Times of India reported recently that we have sister companies that have been investigated for fraud.  There is no truth in this and we categorically deny that SpeakAsia has anything to do with either of these companies.  The companies mentioned are Red Carpet and Index AdMatrix. As for Seven Rings International, they were the publisher of the E-Zine magazine which was distributed by HVP.  SpeakAsia has no interest, commercial or otherwise, in any of their operations.  The reports in the Times of India are false and seem to be motivated by certain vested interests.  We have, on more than one occasion, offered to clarify our positions regarding the various issues with the Times of India, but unfortunately, our offer was not accepted.

117 Pakistani soldiers missing as avalanche hits Siachen Glacier

Over 100 Pakistani soldiers guarding the frontiers on the Siachen glacier have been trapped under heaps of snow after a massive avalanche hit a military camp early morning on Saturday.
Despite daylong searches, not one of the 117 soldiers was located but the Army has not given up hope, though condolence messages have begun coming in as prospects of survivors began fading with every passing minute.

Massive slide
The avalanche hit the remote camp of the Northern Light Infantry in the Gayari region around 6 a.m. According to military spokesman Athar Abbas, it was a massive slide and must have taken the troops by surprise as such occurrences normally happen at night.
