ITS TIME FOR BLACKBERRY 10

Blackberry has been the epitome of a business smartphone for some time now. But over the past few years, the Canadian firm manufacturing it, Research in Motion (RIM), has lost precious ground to emerging mobile operating systems such as Apple's iOS and Google's Android in terms of sheer innovation.

Geralt of Rivia is no ordinary protagonist. A battle-worn Witcher, he is an alchemist, a mage and a craftsman, in addition to being a skilled swordsman. Yet underneath all the fantasy lies a character that is more human than Witcher.

Hundred x 100: Sachin's tryst with destiny

apnaaddafun.blogspot.com
Mirpur: One year and five days since he scored his 99th international century, Sachin Tendulkar reached the unprecedented landmark of 100. For over a year a legion of fans had watched in anticipation as Tendulkar strode to the crease in India, England and Australia, and at 17:07 local time, when he nudged towards square leg for a single, there was a collective release of emotions.
Tendulkar, 38, had been stuck on 99 international centuries since March 12, 2011 when he scored a century against South Africa during the World Cup. During the time he took to move from 99 to 100, so much has changed for the Indian cricket team. In the last 12 months they have won the World Cup, slipped form their No. 1 perch in the ICC’s Test rankings, been whitewashed in consecutive overseas Test tours, failed to make the finals of a tri-series, and have seen Rahul Dravid make his exit from the international scene.

Budget 2012 Live: Pranab’s effort is a mouse. Forget pizza, order some booze

LAST WORD: Sorry, folks. This is not the big bang the market was hoping for. It’s a whimper. As Pranab Mukherjee concludes his speech, it’s clear that there have been no serious efforts to fix anything. Fuel and fertiliser subsidies have not been cut. Fiscal consolidation is a mixed bad. Higher taxes will raise inflation by a bit. This budget won’t achieve much. Your tax reliefs are piddly. Forget the pizza. Order more booze to drown your sorrows.
12.45: Gold buffs – here’s your comeuppance. Basic customs up on gold doubled. Also on platinum. Sin taxes also up on big bang some cigarettes and bidis. Small customes cuts on cigarettes, too.

Only 11 out of the 32 Congress MLAs were present besides three independent MLAs -- Mantri Prasad Netani, Harish Durgapal and Dinesh Tanhai -- and Uttarakhand Kranti Dal MLA Pritam Singh Panwar.

Prominent Congress leaders Harak Singh Rawat and Indra Hridayesh, who were themselves aspirants for the Chief Minister's post, were conspicuous by their absence as were Harish Rawat's supporters.

The Congress, which won 32 seats in the 70-member Assembly, one more than BJP's 31, has managed to get the support of three independents and an equal number of BSP MLAs and that of UKD(K) MLA.

But the revolt by Rawat, who is said to have a sizable number of supporters among the MLAs, came as a surprise to the party leadership.

Upset over the party decision, Rawat reportedly sent a letter to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi offering to resign. His supporters claimed in the capital that he has resigned but Rawat himself declined to confirm or deny.

New Mitsubishi Pajero Sport launch

The Mitsubishi Pajero is synonomous with the Dakar Rally. Thanks to its rally pedigree, the Pajero has a robust cult following across the globe and it's a machine that has lived up to its reputation of being a no nonsense SUV that can tackle the outdoors without batting an eyelid. In India, the Pajero SFX has proved its mettle and while customers have enjoyed its off road manerisms, it never really offered a great ride on tarmac. Further to this, the SFX was getting a little long in the tooth and Pajero loyalists had their fingers crossed for a model upgrade. The wait is finally over as Mitsubishi has ushered in the latest avatar of the Pajero in the form of the Pajero Sport for the Indian market.

The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport comes with a 2.5 litre, 16 valve, turbocharged, intercooled diesel engine that generates 178PS of power @ 4000 rpm and 400Nm of torque @ 2000 – 2500 rpm. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, and further to this, the Pajero also sports a state of the art four wheel drive system which will be a definite boon while tackling obstacles off road.  From the looks of it, Mitsubishi have insured that the new Pajero isn't left wanting in terms of power delivery and overall capability.

Pakistan Hindu girl sent to protective custody amid conversion row

A Pakistani court today directed police to take into protective custody a 19-year-old Hindu girl and her Muslim husband, amid allegations that she was abducted and forcibly converted to Islam. Justice Shahid Anwar Bajwa of the Sindh high court, who was hearing the case of Rinkle Kumari, ordered police to take the couple into protective custody till March 26.

Rinkle's relatives have said that she was kidnapped and forcibly converted before being married off to Naveed Shah. They have asked authorities to allow the girl to go back to her family.

However, Rinkle told the media in Karachi yesterday that she converted of her own free will and adopted the name Syeda Faryal Bibi before marrying Shah. The high court had summoned the couple along with their lawyer.

Some members of Rinkle's family too were present in the court during the hearing.

The judge considered the possibility of sending Rinkle to the Darul Aman, a state-run women's home, but finally directed police to take the couple into custody and to provide security to them. A bench of the supreme court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry had on March 8 directed authorities to produce three Hindu girls who were allegedly kidnapped, including Rinkle, in court on March 26.

Days after an IPS officer was killed allegedly by the mining mafia in Madhya Pradesh, a 24-year-old youth was mowed down by a truck belonging to the sand mafia in Tamil Nadu. Satheesh along with his villagers in Tirunelveli were blocking a lorry from taking the sand away from their village.
Satheesh was run over by the lorry carrying sand from the river bed when he tried to block its path along with 20 villagers, police said.
The villagers, fearing for their lives, fled the scene after the incident, they said.

The lorry driver has been arrested and a murder case filed against him and the vehicle owner, an AIADMK councillor of Nanguneri panchayat, police said.
On March 8, 30-year-old IPS officer Narendra Kumar Singh was crushed under the wheels of a tractor-trolley driven by an alleged member of the mining mafia in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district when he tried to stop the vehicle carrying stones.
