Motorcycles that you love to Drive in 2012


Bajaj Auto -
Bajaj Auto Latest Pulsar series: The latest Pulsar that is scheduled to be launched in 2012 is already creating a buzz in the market. This new Pulsar is being offered by Bajaj Auto in celebration of its 10th anniversary. The latest Pulsar is expected to adopt the best features of the KTM Duke and the Pulsar 135LS. The new Pulsar range is expected to begin with a 125/150cc bike with the highest powered variant being a 250cc one. It is going with a liquid cooled, DOHC, Fuel injected, 4-valve engine that is similar to the ones used by Duke Bikes. Its styling has drawn inspiration from the Pulsar 135LS. This is going to be the first instance that the bike is going to be provided with a Monocross suspension. The disk brake provided has also been larger along with 10-spoked alloy wheels.  The bike is going to be launched at the Delhi Auto Expo 2012.

KTM Duke 200: Another bike that is also going to be launched at the Delhi Auto Expo and is being as eagerly awaited as the Pulsar is the KTM Duke 200. This is the first off the road sports motorbike that Bajaj Auto is offering. The Duke 200 is going to get its power from a DOHC, liquid cooled, single cylinder, and 4-valve engine going to have an excellent ratio of power to weight at 200Bhp per tonne. It is going to be provided with a frame of Chromium and Molybdenum along with steel made sub frame. The bike has been equipped with high quality parts to compliment its top performing engine.
KTM Duke 200
The latest Discover: In a move that is going to surprise most people in the biking fraternity, the latest Discover is finally making its way to India in 2012. This bike is going to be a leader in its class with respect to fuel economy and is also going to be provided with world class ergonomics. Though Bajaj Auto has not come out with any details about this bike, it is expected to be provided with a DTSI 4-valve engine and is also going to come in an all-new look. The bike is expected to be launched by 2012 year end.


Hero MotoCorp –
Hero 250cc: After closing the chapter of its near three decade association with Japan’s Honda Motor Corp,Hero MotoCorp has made plans of launching its 250cc motorcycle next year. This is going to be the most powerful and expensive bike from the company till date. The company is developing this bike at its own Research and Development facility securing help from a Japanese consultant. The two qualities that are traditionally associated with Hero bikes will be prominently visible in this bike as well. We are referring to the latest design and the competitive pricing that this bike is going to come with. The bike can be expected around the third quarter of 2012.
HMSI (Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India) –
CB100: Honda is totally geared up to bring out its first offering in the 100cc motorcycle segment, which the company expects is going to generate a lot of mass appeal. Though there has been no official announcement about the name of the bike, it is expected that the bike will be named CB100 going by the trend Honda usually follows. The motorcycle is going to be provided with the latest CD series of engines and will be provided enhancement in design and looks. The bike is going to be competitively priced so that it can effectively challenge the Splendor. The bike is expected to be showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo and is expected to be launched in the month of April or May of 2012.
CBR150R: The Honda CBR250R has received excellent response from the Indian bikers and the company has also been satisfied with the sales the bike has registered. However, the bike has still not secured mass appeal due to its high price. Hence, in order to further address this price issue, Honda is planning to launch the CBR150R in the Indian market. It has all the features of the CBR250R bike with the only difference being that it now has a 150cc engine that generates peak power and torque figures of 19.5Bhp and 17Nm respectively. This bike is expected to be launched in the latter part of 2012.

Garware Motors –
Hyosung GT250R: S&T Motors has tied up with Garware Motors to make India the production hub for its motorcycles that are going to be exported to Middle East and Asian markets. The GT250R is going to be launched in India in the year 2012. The bike will feature a DOHC 8-valve, oil cooled, 249cc twin engine that is going to generate peak power and torque figures of 26.27Bhp and 21.04Nm respectively. A competitive pricing is expected for this bike with the increasing shifting of production of these bikes to India. The company has scheduled the time period of March 2012 for launching the bike in India.

Mahindra 2 Wheelers –
Satallio: The 110cc Satallio motorcycle is going to be re-launched in India in 2012. This Mahindra bike had initially made its appearance in the Indian market in 2010 but the production of this bike had to be stopped in that year itself as it had developed certain problems in its gear box. The company is re-launching the bike in March 2012 by further enhancing its gear box and engine.

Suzuki Motorcycles –
Suzuki 100cc: Suzuki Motorcycle has made plans of launching its 100cc motorcycle in the Indian market. The company is aiming to target the mass population with this bike. The bike is going to be competitively priced and is going to be provided with a fresh engine that has been designed in the context of Indian road conditions. It will provide direct competition to the 100cc bike that is being offered by Hero. The bike is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2012 but is going to be showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo.
Suzuki GW250cc: Suzuki has showcased this bike for the first time at a motorcycle exhibition in China. It is expected that the company can bring this bike to the Indian market owing to the country’s proximity to the production base of the bike in China. The bike is expected to be competitively priced in the Indian market. Design of the bike has been inspired from the naked Hybusa and also the Suzuki B-King. It will be offered with a fuel injected, liquid cooled, parallel twin 248cc engine. The engine is going to be one of the USPs of this bike and it has all the possibilities of dominating the Indian market when launched in 2012 second half.

Yamaha Motors –
FAZER250: Yamaha has firmly entrenched itself in the premium biking segment of India and it is expected that 2012 will see the company launching its 250cc motorcycle in the country. The FAZER 250cc is being speculated to be launched in the country in 2012. It is provided with a 2-valve OHC, single cylinder, oil cooled, four stroke engine that can achieve maximum power and torque figures of 21Bhp and 20.7Nm.  The motorcycle is going to be competitively priced as it has not been provided with high end technological features. But the inherent qualities that Yamaha has of offering high performing engines with longer durability and excellent handling is going to make this bike create a strong impact on Indian roads.

TVS Motors:
Apache Velocity: The TVS Apache is coming out with an all round upgrade and is going to be known as the Apache Velocity. The bike has blessed with stunning looks and will definitely be a head turner in the 150cc segment. It has retained its engine but has tweaked it to offer much improved performance. It is going to offer good value for customer money in the premium segment and is going to hit Indian roads expectedly in June 2012.

Rockz: A stylish moped of 125cc is also featuring prominently in the list of bikes that TVS Motors plans to launch in India in 2012. The moped has been given the name Rockz and will have the capability of generating maximum power of 9.8Bhp and peak torque of 9.8Nm. The Rockz is going to be priced at Rs.45,000 and should be launched in the month of March 2012.
